How fantastic that so many people showed such enthusiasm for the first newsletter.  Thank you to you all for your encouragement and kind words.

It's been a great pleasure to meet and to hear from so many new people these last two months, to share ideas, thoughts and theories.  There's some great wisdom around and its great to share it.

READERS QUESTIONS

READERS QUESTIONS

 Q. Can you tell me about Karuna reiki and how it's different to Usui ?

A: Karuna Reiki was developed from Usui and Tibetan Reiki by William Rand, an experienced Reiki Teacher in America who runs the International Centre for Reiki Training.

Karuna uses 8 completely different symbols to Usui, which of course all have different uses and meanings. There are two levels, Karuna I and II.

My experience of Karuna is that it has a completely different feel to Usui. To me it feels like a very powerful love energy. Although I find it “packs a punch” in its effect, it is at the same time also very loving and gentle on the client. The word Karuna means “compassionate action” in Sanscrit and I do find it to be a beautiful and compassionate energy.

I think that Karuna is good for any practitioner to learn because not only does it enhance your own healing practice, but also because it accelerates your own spiritual development and enhances connections with spiritual guides and beings.

Q. I see in adverts for Karuna training participants need to be Usui trained first, why is this ?

A: The energy is generally accepted as being a high vibration. Learning Karuna as a beginner would be too much for most people’s systems. Therefore a requirement is that practitioners get used to the Usui energy first.

Karuna Practitioner I and II can be taught to anyone with PART 3a (Advanced Reiki Training) / Usui Master. For Karuna Master I and II you need to be trained as a Usui Master-Teacher i.e. be able to give attunements already.

Warm wishes, Judith Hart

ENERGY VISUALISATION

ENERGY VISUALISATION

Call upon your most creative and abundant Imagination:

Even if we are fully aware of the concept, that everything that we come into contact with is made up of energy, it can be difficult to comprehend what that really means.

Everything is energy, every object that we see or feel around us is energy.  We ourselves are energy and as Reiki practitioners we channel energy and work with it every day in a very focused way.

This exercise helps to bring a fuller awareness of energy into our lives.

Find yourself a peaceful and comfortable place.   Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths.  Practise being grownded and centred.

Relax your body, holding the intention that you're about to develop your awareness of energy to a much greater degree.

Looking through a very powerful microscope, you find that everything around you and surrounding you is a pool of energy - the Universe and everything it contains.

Imagine, everything around you is converting into energy.  Everything in the room that you are in is changing into small energy particles.  Imagine this as vividly as you can, take your time.

The room has become energy, a huge vast ocean of energy, pure, good, active and sustainable energy.  This energy is pure consciousness. You are present everywhere in this consciousness.

Now imagine that your body itself is disintegrating into small energy particles.  Your entire body with all its organs is changing into energy.  Try and imagine that your bodies cells, tiny, hidden parts of you are all turned to energy, your organs, your whole self.

You are energy within a universe full of energy, this energy is pure consciousness, you are present everywhere in this consciousness.  How does that feel?

Remain in this state of energy for as long as you can before slowly turning this huge ocean of energy back to its original form, the beautiful you.

REIKI COLOUR VIBRATION PAINTINGS

REIKI COLOUR VIBRATION PAINTINGS

The inspiration behind my colour vibration paintings has come from years of being aware of how colours affect each and every one of us. I haven't studied colour therapy and feel that categorising colours into a system doesn't really work for me. We are all very different and respond to colours in our own way, depending on our moods and feelings!

When I paint I tune in to the colours and my feelings. I paint with my hands so I can really feel the energy!
After completing my Reiki Masters I was led to incorporate the symbols, over laying them with golden hearts to really show the love that Reiki is.

Some of my paintings are on display in a centre that works with addicts. Since hanging the pictures they have reported that people feel a calming affect from the paintings.

Reiki Colour Balance paintings allow me to experiment with mixing reiki symbols and colour vibrations to create harmony, love and balance.

THE POWER OF INTENTION

A friend shared with me this story…….

He was staying at a Buddhist Monastery this summer on retreat. While he was there he spoke to one of the monks about his recent fishing experiences.

He had been a recreational fisherman all his life, enjoying the quiet contemplation but this past year he had been unsuccessful, not catching a single fish! He had changed his tactics as well as his bait and rod, but to no avail.

Disillusioned, he gave up and thoughtfully looked for other reasons to explain this change of fortune.

Hearing his plight the monk said knowingly, “Ah, but your mind set has changed. You’re now a practising Buddhist and are living your life in a more meaningful, thoughtful and kind way so your Intention has changed. On an unconscious level you no longer wish to cause harm and suffering. Therefore, the Power of your Intention has shifted and as a result you will no longer catch any fish”.

This little story shows the strength of our Intention at a very subtle level.

Intention releases a force that makes things happen, stronger than any want or desire. Dianna Cooper describes it as an arrow in flight. Nothing can deflect it.

This is what happens when we give and send Reiki with the intent to help and heal. The might of the Universe is unleashed and a powerful force is set in motion. So let that be for the Highest Good, the Good of All and always in Love and Joy.

PONDERING THE POSTURE OF MY FEET - MAZ

PONDERING THE POSTURE OF MY FEET - MAZ

SHAVASANA

“Lie down with your body straight, your feet about hip distance apart with your feet turned out, hands slightly away from your sides with your palms up, take a few deep breaths”

I repeat these words in my head before self healing each day and at the start of a reiki session with clients, just as yoga teachers, meditators, and healers worldwide say their own version, like a mantra, at the end of each class.

Shavasana, has always felt extra special to me, the complete surrender to gravity can bring about great release of body tension. From personal practice, this body posture can also bring forward the emotional tensions which are ready to be dealt with. I believe the same is true when giving or receiving reiki, or using other alternative therapies when the body is positioned in Shavasana.

In combination with Shavasana, I have developed a new understanding of the relationship I have with my feet. Feet have special significance for me, not just because I appreciate all the hard work they do for me each day, but I acknowledge that their careful positioning allows me to feel different flows of energy within my body. From years of dance classes as a child, the meticulous positioning of feet, toes and ankle alignment have fascinated me.

Reiki has given me a new understanding of the significance of feet and the way Kei energy passes through the Muladhara or base chakra. Time spent at the feet is a powerful way to earth and release and so assisting the healing experience.

My interest in healing energy allows me to view Da Vinci’s drawing of man (Vitruvain Man) and Alex Greys ‘Sacred Mirrors’ series of paintings (www.Alexgrey.com) in a wider context. In all these images the position of the legs and the out-turned toes are not, in my opinion, the artists preference but an intuitive symbolic reflection of a sacred wisdom. When we reflect the pose we access the ancient energy it holds.

Within reiki discussions, hand positions seem to dominate. We focus on feeling the kei flowing from our heart, down the arms, out through the palms of our hands. But lets not overlook the value of feet and thier positioning in reiki sessions. Foot posture is a gateway to meridians, the opening of nadis or energy points (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nadis), they strengthen our connection to earth and our grounding energy which ultimately helps maintain and restore balanced chi.

My journey into kinesiology put greater emphasis still on the Shavasana posture. With feet apart and toes turned outwards the body’s energetic circuits, or bio-computer (www.pnf.org/Clinical_Kinesiology__web_version_.pdf) works more effectively and is able to give and receive information relevant to healing at a soul level. In this position our hips are a major junction point, like a communication high way, whilst at the same time allowing our body to fully relax all the muscles around the joints.

I start the day by being mindful of the way I feel emotionally, physically, energetically or spiritually. I ask myself if I feel balanced and take a moment to align my feet and bring my awareness to the distribution of body weight between them. I visualise the reiki symbols strengthening my roots and use an affirmation to reaffirm my connection to the earth below and my higher self above.

“I am in my body, my body is in the universe, the universe and I combine together”

By repeating and reaffirming I feel a shift of energy when I’m out of balance.

With a light heart, I guide my reiki clients to breath wide and full, to lie wide and open. With loving intention I adjust their feet as we prepare to go into rei- ki.

CREATE YOUR OWN HEALING REIKI MANDALA

CREATE YOUR OWN HEALING REIKI MANDALA

The Mandala is a symbol that can be used for focusing attention, as a spiritual teaching tool, for creating a sacred space, an aid to meditation and as a tool for healing. Carl Jung saw the mandala as a ‘representation of the unconscious self’.

Mandala art allows us to translate our inner thoughts and feelings. By holding the intention to give, to love, to understand and to connect with our higher self, you can create motivational images that inspire healing.

You can use a variety of materials to create a mandala; rocks and stones in a garden space, flowers, crystals, objects collected from the beach, use anything that allows you to express your inner self, be experimental.

Start by grounding and centring. Connect to Reiki in your usual manner and hold the intention ‘I am aligned with my higher self’

Make a circle of any size depending on the materials you intend to use.
Collect together all the things you feel you might like to use, including crayons, paints, sparkly things, coloured paper, photos, leaves, string, wool, anything that you find inspiring.

Fill the mandala circle with reiki energy holding the intention of what you would like to create it for.

Be aware of images that come to you and guide you towards the mandala you are destined to create and when you’re ready, start work on it, using its construction as a process of meditation and healing in itself. Once you’ve finished your work, again fill the mandala with reiki energy holding the intention of what you would like to use it for, then focus or meditate on the mandala for as long as you are able.

This magnificent time of creativity and imagination should remain a fun and enjoyable moment, your main priority should be to give yourself permission to play and hold a smile on your face the entire way through.
